Message from the CEO
Turning Compassion into Care: My Journey from Finance to Healthcare
After serving for 25 years as a banker both at home and abroad, I retired in 2022. Many ask me why I chose to step into the world of Medical Tourism after a long career in finance. My answer is simple: it wasn’t a business decision; it was a calling born out of a personal realization.
We all know the pain and restlessness that take over when a loved one falls ill. We run from one diagnostic center to another, consulting various doctors, desperate for a cure. When local treatments don’t yield the desired results, our last hope often lies in seeking medical care abroad.
I witnessed a close relative go abroad for “better treatment.” Despite the high costs and the reputation of the hospital, they did not recover. This made me reflect deeply. I realized that while advanced infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and skilled nursing are vital, they aren’t everything. The most critical factor is the Doctor.
A hospital might be world-famous, but not every department or doctor within it is the “best” for every specific ailment. My relative had chosen a hospital based on hearsay, not on the expertise of a specific specialist. This realization—that patients need guidance to find the right doctor, not just a big hospital—is what led to the birth of Genesis Healthcare.
